This weekend, while waiting for my bank account to balance, I decided to get a start on that Xion that houses my newest system. A friend of mine showed up with a whoooole bunch of beer, and in a slight haze I started on this
Just a free gift I got from being a ThinkGeek.com consumer whore.
This was supposed to be in a license plate cover for a car... after some toying around with my multi-meter... BAM front bezel mounted LED scrolling goodness
OH, I'm play testing a $10 camera that I got from a grocery store just to see if it had any image quality at all. I'm not too... well, I've not decided either way. Where I would complain that it takes questionable quality images, I must point out that I was in horrible lighting and taking pictures while moving... IF I stop to take intelligent pictures (standing still proper lighting and what not...) then they turn out better then expected on a $10 digital camera. Any way I digress...
This is the case that I ordered.
Sexy eh?
This is what I was shipped
shit happens... SO I went out and bought 2x 120mm LED Fans to replace the plain black ones in the front and back of the case.
it's looking better...
The next thing on my docket is pulling the blue LED's in the plastic face plate and replacing them with ultra brights going to cost me about $1.80
so as you can see, I'm still wanting a 140mm green LED fan... Or I'll post pics of me drilling four LED's out of a fan. Which would you want to see me do? Coming soon to a garage near you...
seeing as how my old page is gone and my ISP wiped my storage... I'm updating. I haven't gotten much done what with being sick and getting fired... HOWEVER I do have a working camera and internet so it only makes sense.
Front Panel Activity LED and power switch. (Lo-Res)
250mm Fan (Lo-Res)
Old side panel with new rear fan and the nice glow of the case feet installed (Lo-Res)
Handles and bad habit stix Oh and the funny "Robots Will kill you." sticker from LSDiodes before they went out of business (Lo-Res)
The 12V "car charger" port in the front of the case (Lo-Res)
The lovely Zalman CP9700N cooler as seen before the 250mm fan almost didn't fit XD (Lo-Res)
Now for the higher res shots...
My Mess... showing off some angles on my still yet unfinished case...
Front bay closed... I'm still working on getting an AVI of the HDD activity and how extending and splitting the headers off the motherboard worked out
The charger port... I use car chargers for my phone, ipod, camera, flash-light etc. through this handy port. Eventually it will get moved to be incorporated in the final add-ons better.
I think that's good for now. I'll get more later when my camera is stable... or if there's specific parts you want pictures of let me know I'll see what I can do.
I'll fuse it better when I move it right now it's vampire clipped on a spare 3.5" floppy connector... I don't think I'll ever use... the drive bay covers I left off because I've been swapping parts in and out as well as added ventilation... that 250mm pumps more air into the case than the 3x 120mm's pump out XD
I got the video of the activity light... it's surprising how little work this machine has to do to fire up 10 1600x1200 images and photoshop at the same time... I was a little sad about this OH WELL! anyone have a place where I can drop a 5mb avi? OH! and here's a night shot of the whole thing.
