Subject: The RIAA Defeats LimeWire - Artists Still Waiting for Justice In a recent court case between the RIAA and LimeWire, the two reached a settlement outside of court. LimeWire will pay $105 million to compensate for the Label's losses.
RIAA Chairman Mitch Bainwol was quoted, "The resolution of this case is another milestone in the continuing evolution of online music to a legitimate marketplace that appropriately rewards creators."
While there has been no official announcements, TorrentFreak reports that RIAA spokesman Jonathan Lamy previously told them, "Any funds recouped are re-invested into our ongoing education and anti-piracy programs."
I think this would be typical of the RIAA, as in the past, there have been a large number of great articles on their lack of compensation to artists, as well as a few reported law suits over these victims they apparently fight for.
What do you guys think?
