I'm at the office now and had to post my anger to the web. I have to install some software for a business that i'm pretty sure by now isn't fully supported by vista yet..
It errored out while installing. I cant uninstall because files are always in use. I cant find it in the running processes/services/ or msconfig...
you cant uninstall programs in safe more anymore...
and finally every time try to remove it after deleting the running files in safe mode, it prompts me to remove it, then nothing happens... and all i did was delete a database file, nothing that deemed how the program ran or even uninstalled...
and thats where my anger comes from If con is the opposite of pro, is Congress the opposite of progress?
well XP Ive found is 100 times more stable in itself then vista, which I realize yes vista is new but seriously its not like they couldn't have taken that little extra time and tested different environment variables to ensure higher stability.
i definatly agree. i mean xp was pretty choppy at first so that does give me some ood hopes for vista, but i'll wait till it gets some service packs out, lol. but the biggest thing that kills me is the lack of compatability... this entire thread started because i spent a day and a half with tech support for one problem. the best part of that was, on the second day i just say, "this isn't compatible with vista yet is it?" of course they tell me, "no it's not" and i'm sitting there thinking, "to bad they didn't tell me that all those other times when i'd mentioned i'm running a vista machine..."
but w ehave xp on a machine, and it took a little work because it is a dell box and they like to make things difficult just like vista does, lol, but now its all running beautifully.
If con is the opposite of pro, is Congress the opposite of progress?
yea, I can't go to vista yet (not that I want to tanyway) because my sound card has no suppotrt under vista yet... Cause It's a pro recording card, I can't just use generic drivers, so I'll just wait and happily use XP for now... In my opinion vista is just anouther name for XP SP3...
STUV.
Screw the right to Bear Arms,
I have the right to Arm Bears.
Piss me off and you'll get an M15 wielding bear in your oatmeal.
yea I can't even get my drivers all running properly on vista, like my vid drivers don't work properly, the sound waas difficult to even get working and the one thing that kinda pissed me off to was my system monitor for my motherboard wasn't compatible and I needed for controlling my CPU fan so it didn't get to hot while overclocked. I mean I hate windows i'll admit to that so even the thought of using XP makes me feel claustrophobic but if I had to choose between XP and vista I would choose XP.
Vista (up to rc2) runs very well on my computer, Ive even been able to play games when running vista. Yes there were a few programs that i couldnt get working but none of them i needed to run on my main compuer so i just put them on my secondery computer.
So it really does depend on what programs you want to use and your system.
I use a few that are incompatible that would drive me insane without....not to mention the ram consumption just isn't something I can justify...I mean a gig min for all the features come one. Im currently runny Kubuntu Edgy with Beryl installed and it doesn't use hardly any ram in comparison and has more then twice the features for eyecandy.
It that you need a gig for vista AND the programs your working on.
XP was the same when it came out people complaned that they needed 256mb of ram, 128 for xp and the rest for their programs.
Im not justifing the the amount of ram it uses but i think that in a few years when we all have 7gb ram the 600mb of ram it uses wont really matter anymore.
/sigh the horrors of vista keep roling in! And I'm wanting to get DirctX10 Video cards soon too!
Heh, I heard hearsay that DirectX 10 doens';t work with XP. I hope this is not true, and if it is, hope that there is a patch for it to work, and work well.
