Ok, I can't keep this under wraps for much longer. Its driving me crazy wanting to talk about it.
I am working on a rather new project, and will entail very unusual casing, and very nonstandard control of the OS.
Just for a taste, I leave you with a single small image of the case.

The motherboard is now MOUNTED!!! :D I have also mounted the Hard drive activity LED, and the Power switch/power LED will be next to it. As you can see, I have room here to spare in the front of the case, and thats good, cause I still want to put 2 USB ports and 2 XBOX controller ports up front.

OK! Got new pics for you all!
Wires are all soldered and have connectors for the motherboard now, and the hard drive LED and Power switch/LED are installed.
this is turning out to be a very attractive machine

Sweet man, looks great. It looks like one of those perfectly made pieces of mechanics, like where you can flip the rocker switch and hear the satisfying "click-clack" while the mounting of the switch doesn't budge at all, if you know what I mean. :P

Trust me, it does have a satisfying *click* to it. its not very loud, but its satisfying. best switch i could find for $16 and it matches my hard drive LED, and that was what really mattered.

that looks awesome all filled up. i really hope you didnt chip the face while drilling in for the switch, it looks like a few little nicks. if that is the case, we can get a washer to cover it and ill spray it black to match the switch and youll never see it =] if im just seeing things, then this is really coming together awesome.
love the ram "in your face"
im thinking based on size it might be more effective for me to use oil for the ghost... what do you think? i obviously would still prime and coat the case as planned, but i think the details would be better in oil, as i can use a single bristle brush if necessary.

try not to think of the price of the part your cutting in half.

If you think that Oil based paint will be best for the Ghost on the side, then thats fine. I want it to come out looking the best possible.
I realized something today. As soon as I get the xbox ports, I will have to go out and get some breadboard, and make a custom board for the xbox ports, as well as the USB ports. Yay for small soldering skills. ~_~

Awesome. Prototype window is now cut. The Plexy is way too thick. I am going to go the cheap route, and have someone at lowes cut the final peice of plexy with the right thickness, due to it needing to be so thin( its got to be 1/2 as thick as what I am using for the prototype window. I will also have them cut the hole in the window for the fan.
Anyway, here is a few pics of the new window.

Yeah, thinner plexy will be needed.
The weight is a touch heavier than a PS2 Phat(original) Disassembled, its almost feather light. the components are impressively heavy. its going to get a tad heavier still, as I need to get/put in the PSU, as well as the fans, and the get/put in the 1U heatsink for this beast.

id say thats a good thing, as weight will help keep it in one place if a gamer happens to tug a cord accidentally

well, it seems as if Luck is on my side! a friend of mine accidently ordered the wrong type of hard drive for his laptop, and it happens to be a 40gb laptop SATA drive. He wants to trade me for a laptop IDE drive I have, so I can have 2 40gb SATA drives in this machine! This is great, considering that my MAME folder alone is 14gb, and my GBA folder is 10gb.
I REALLY need to get to working on the OS Frontside gui for this machine...
