Post Subject: a general rant about some websites
Posted on: Mar 24, 2011

I'll start this off by saying, this has been a lousy week, so that may be playing a small role in all of this.

I just wanted to complain about some websites (that'll remain unnamed, though speculation is welcome, lol). I was reading a case review today and I really wanted to see the inside of the case. So it takes up till page 5 to see a picture of the inside of the case. Up to this point, it's been a page each for each side of the case, with roughly two pictures per page, and a short and extremely dry description. Admittedly I could have just gone to the drop down navigation, but in all honesty, I didn't think it'd take that long to get there.

The first thing that gets me a bit upset on pagination is... it's abused... Lets be honest, when you're on a web page, it's impossible to run out of space for content, so pagination should be used for a more functional purpose. Such as.... Description, Detailed Specs, Gallery, Final Option, ect.. That makes more sense. The second part that gets me is, before I get to the review content I see 4 ads, and there was a total of 9 ads on this page... so the pagination really boosts their CPM...

Ok, I'm just going to cut this rant short right here before I get really crazy. lol but if anyone else has any rants, I'll encourage them in this thread. But to keep it fair, Please keep the site you're ranting about anonymous.

...my bad mood continues...

long winded explanations and details even worded in a way to catch attention to me are personally very annoying *though there are exceptions*, I kinda put it up on the same level as single block/wall/paragraph of text thats virtually impossible for the sane to read. lol

thats one thing when I'm on a rant I kinda can do that but otherwise I try to keep things short and to the point.

It seems this way for everyone. It's like some sort of job security. You ever tune into the nightly news to catch the weather and the weather person drones on about dew points and jet streams and farmers almanac references?
Just me the f$#@!n weather!
Hot or cold or both, they don't know.
Sorry to hi-jack your rant!

god I know what you mean, I live a block away from the grocery store and was gonna walk there this was about a month, month and a half ago and weather said it was supposed to be like -5 out the day before....that day with wind chill it was like -35 out *usually add another 5 degrees to that number and it's about right* so I was like yea screw that. lol
