Post Subject: What about desktop computers?
Posted on: Mar 10, 2011
I thought this might be an interesting topic since we're still prepping to launch the new site (haha I know, I've been saying that forever, but it's at the point that it's mostly design work that's left, ugh).
How long do you think desktop computers will stay around for home use? I started wondering this after browsing affiliate news and it's really starting to all become cell phones, tablets, and other random stuff that while it's a tech product, doesn't seem to have anything to do with computers. And even looking at myself, seems like a good chunk of my friends only have laptops these days. I'll personally always have a desktop, but am I part of a dying trend on that? lol or am I just being crazy? If con is the opposite of pro, is Congress the opposite of progress?
I've picked it up a few more times here any there just seeing what I can do, lol nothing too impressive yet. I'm still working past that backwards Superman "S" lol. Lately I've been just full force on programming, i'm thinking about starting to mod to kick off the new site. I'm still thinking how i could best use the paint gun that'll line up with my abilities, lol

well I would have to say until laptops become as powerful as your desktop for a reasonable price and I mean powerful for like high end gamers or users, I don't see them going out quite anytime soon, it's getting there and for a lot of users that are more casual a net book does what they need and more. the other thing is desktops have a longer life span typically due to better cooling and air circulation thus less overheating of the components. Personally though gotta say if I could afford a laptop as good as my desktop right now I would chuck my desktop out the window in a heartbeat, bloody thing takes up too much space....though it does make a decent heater in the winter here. lol
I full agree with all of that except that I don't know if I could ever game on a laptop unless I had a larger external screen and separate mouse/keyboard, haha. I'm personally worried that the people who want/need desktops are starting to become a dying breed.
