Post Subject: I lost my laptop charger...
Posted on: Feb 28, 2011
This has to be a pretty timeless topic on the internet, but I feel that I'm starting to hit a wall with it. I had decided to spend my new years out of state, and it was a great time, but I decided to take my netbook with me along with an aircard that I checked out from work in-case there was any chance my services would be needed. Luckily, the extended weekend went by without any phone calls from the office, but being the person I am I was still online plenty, lol.
When I got home I realized I forgot my charger cable somewhere. I talked to my friend who I stayed with and they haven't seen it, I also talked with a hotel I stayed in and they said, "We'll let you know if we see it". After a couple of weeks I opted to try one of those universal chargers. Well none of them would fit my netbook. Mine has an annoyingly tiny charger plug. So I returned that one, looked around online at a lot of pics since I can't find any way to rate the sizes of those plugs, and I tried again. Still no luck.
I've since then tried to contact the netbook company multiple times without any responses... If I can buy a new charger from them, that'd be awesome. If they could point me in the right direction, then I'd be all for that too...
Well it's been two months and I'm really debating what I should do.. The netbook was roughly $200. Spending $70-80 for a new charger was hard enough... I'm just saying, I doubt that 50% of the costs of my netbook was the charger, lol. I also hate to go out and buy a new netbook just because of this, seems like such a waste of a perfectly good netbook. What do you guys think? What would you all do? I'm currently just extremely annoying with not getting anywhere on this. If con is the opposite of pro, is Congress the opposite of progress?
Yeah, I thought the $80 charger was ridiculous too... I got an unofficial 3rd party charger for like $20-$30 when the charger for my old laptop died.
I made sure all the voltages/amps and whatnot matched, (I don't really know much about that stuff... so I just made sure it matched) and it worked fine.
not sure if other people have had problems with 3rd party chargers, but the one I got worked.
Friend's kid: Mommy, what's church?
Mommy: Church is where people go to learn about God.
kid: Who's God? Does he teach karate?
my issue is just finding one that matches. Looking around online they look pretty standardized, but finding getting any sort of info from the company that makes my netbook has been almost impossible so far. I wish mine just stopped working, atleast then I could read the info off of it, but since i lost it... well i feel a little screwed

yea getting info on laptops and netbook's in detail seems to be an utter pain in the ass these days, Ive been looking into a net book or possibly a new laptop and finding details on some of the specs is really frustrating.
I had some from hannspree. it was a little more affordable and had very comparable specs at the time so I went with it, but now I'm wishing I went more mainstream.. i personally loved a netbook though. I mean you can't expect to do half the stuff that you'd do on your desktop, but the convenience of them was pretty incredible.

I would try to find a charger that works but not cost as much if possible, probably bout the only reply that's gonna get posted lol an this is the netbook I was looking at. Acer Netbook
yea Ive heard good things about asus and to be honest looking at the others they have on futureshop's site the only differences are the drive capacity and proc speeds and the cheapest is faster than all but 1 of the expensive netbooks which is $400 and equal in proc speed, well at least for the ones I actually looked at anyway. as for laptop's I was looking at this Toshiba Satellite my current laptop is a toshiba and it's still kickin 4 and 1/2 years and 3 hard drives later. lol
i thought i was going to get to play knight in shining armor to one of the intelligent uhm "dimes" that uhm"work for me" ... she is a net junky and lives on her laptop and sort of bent broke the power cord where it connects. she was convinced the laptop was breaking as it kept shutting off. so after seeing it and getting the part number off hp site i google it, and find one for 7 bucks with shipping and handling. sold
arrives asap. fails just as fast.
provides literally one day of use.
go to local pc shop (pcw) and man up the 30 bucks (still better than hp's $80 quote
