The idea for this mod is simple. My mom (Who I am doing this mod for) has a desk that has a center section that would be very convenient for putting a computer under, so I might as well use it for what it should have been designed for. Here is a rough sketchup of what the desk is going to look like.

Obviously that is really rough. The side panels are going to be scratch board behind plexi and backlit.

I started work by making the center section. I cut up a piece from and old case and then cut away with my Dremel.

I made a "Custom" switch for it. (this was the best way I could figure out to make a larger power switch.)

I just got back from Lowe's with plexi, quarter-round, and screws, so here I go.

So next I started working on mounting the components on the inside.

I cut a piece of plywood for mounting components on.

Here's a shot of components being test fitted.

Here's how I have everything attached. I just ran screws through the opposite sides and put two on each each corner of the pieces.

That's it for the moment. The faceplate should be done drying by now (I hope) so I can get back to that.

I'm not too concerned about the screws. The motherboard is on a tray so I think that is fine. The power supply shouldn't have any problem and the hard drive is on a bracket that is mounted with screws.

I think I am just going to make a new front panel because the current one has a bunch of problems. This mod has been a learning experience for me mainly. This is the first time I have also done any extensive work with metal.

yeah your right, i didn't think the mobo was on a tray...

this is real nice i too have a corner desk, and the pc never seems to work correctly aesthetically, no matter where i put it. i too built5 a little riser for the monitor as yours apparently came with, and its sweet. kudos for a very intuitive design!

as for 1st time with metal, for a learning experience, those ports look rather pro. keep it up its looking great =]

It's been a while since I've updated this. I've done some work on it slowly but forgot to post.

I decided to make a new center piece. I also made a new power switch.

I cut the pieces of scratch board and plexi.

Then I made a trough for them using quarter-round. I also mounted all the components on the desk.

I mounted quarter-round on the top piece to finish off the front.

Then I went ahead and made sure it all fit.

And here is where it is at the moment. I still have to cut the designs on it.
