Post Subject: CVS2 dreamcast
Posted on: Oct 28, 2008

Over the past year ive done a little bit of collecting consoles and console games and my favourite of all my consoles is of course my Sega dreamcast.

Because the dreamcast just turned 9 years old I decided to make make myself my own custom dreamcast dedacated to one of my favoutire games on the console, Capcom VS SNK 2 (cvs2)

So far Ive not got far but ive been unwell recently and not have much free time for it.

Just now I have the top half painted and Ive started on the cvs2 logo hopefully by the end I'll not only have the console customised but also I control pad or 2.

I decided to scrap this project because I done more work months ago and I just wasn't happy with the way it looked.
So last night I sanded some of the paint off and set it to the side for a future project and grabbed another Dreamcast form my pile of them and started to paint it.

I call it Mai Dreamcast.

I'm already much happier with the way its going.

I probably just post in this thread when its finished rather than keeping a worklog because there's a good chance I could ruin it and not want to continue.

1 word.

BEWBS!

Mai is awesome, and I really love the stuff you are doing with the dreamcast. I would love to have you do one of my dreamcasts...I think I would go for Ryu or Sakura though...

All that's left to do is paint the background and the dreamcast white and have the buttons and the ports red to match Mai's outfit.

because I have a few dreamcasts sitting around I have thought about painting up a couple and just selling the empty shells.

hmm. I would like to get a painted dreamcast. that would be cool. hell, I could get 2...one with Ryu, one with Sakura. A "his & hers" Dreamcast. it would be great as my Wife has one, and I have one.

nice painting man, that thing looks sweet. I liked it more in the first pic when the colors really stood out, nice job.

I almost give up on this put it in the bin because I posted it on another forum and got very negative comments from people.

but realised that I liked it and that's all that really matters and the most any of them had done was painted a console with the wrong kind of paint, ruining it forever.

So I finished the rest of it off today.

Its just an empty shell for now because I'm going to to a bit of soldering on the dreamcast so I can change its region whenever I want to play imports.

that looks great! did you fill in the "dreamcast" logo in with body filler or something? Just wondering what you used if you did.

That does look awesome. I need to check on the SD card reader for the Dreamcast, to see if there is any new developments for that, so I might make one/buy one for my DC if they prove to be useful.

I just painted over it but if I was to try this again I would probably fill it and sand it down.

I reed recently someone made a cheap usb to serial adapter for the dreamcast that would allow you to upload code straight to the dreamcast. If i can find the parts myself i think i might make one because i burnt 50 Cd-r's porting They Hunger to the dreamcast and having a cable like that could save me time and money.

Unless I can boot code off an SD card I dont think I'll be getting the the card reader just because i have too many dreamcast accessories that never get used.

Ive got a Maple port(controller port) to PS/2 - AT keyboard adapter, the DC Mouse, DC Keyboard, 4 controllers, 8 VMU's(2 are the 4 in 1 non display mem cards), 2 rumble packs, 1 Seaman mic, a parts dreamcast, and 2 fully functional dreamcasts. I STILL WANT A BBA, and a VGA cable for mine, and the SD reader if its out.

Aparently the SD reader will let you boot code from it... I really wanna know how that works.

not including stuff ive sold i have
4 dreamcasts , 1 with box
4 official pads, 2 with box ones never been used and the others only been used once.
1 grey vmus with box
2 green vmus, 1 in box sealed 1 with box
1 blue vmu with box
1 red vmu (missing lid)
8 vibration packs, 4 sealed in boxes
1 ascii fight pad with box (mildly rare)
1 keybaord with box
1 rf cable
1 vga box
1 microphone

games

The only thing missing from that photo is wind and water puzzle battles

I think that's everything but its hard to remember because Ive sold some stuff over the years.

If the card reader can load code it would use a boot disk to get started.

What I used to do was buy faulty dreamcasts with games on ebay. I would then fix the dreamcast and sell it on and keep all the games. Thats why I have 3 copies of dead or alive 2.

I don't buy much for the dreamcast any more because I've been concentrating on buying original xbox games while some stores still stock them.
