Post Subject: Very small HTPC box
Posted on: Jan 30, 2010

I wanted a small computer to run MPEG4 Video (H264) 1920x1080p files, from my Xacti 1010 camcorder on my 1080p 42" television set.
I bought a Zotac IONITX A series with external 90 watt power adapter and WiFi on board (200$ on Ebay),
a 500 G Western Digital Caviar Green hard disk, 2G 800 Mhz memory and a 12 cm fan.
Motherboard dimensions : 170x170x42 mm.
A couple of hours of wood and aluminium work and that it.
The computer is connected to the television by an HDMI cable. The mouse and the keyboard are Bluetooth.
The 1080p files run very smooth indeed.
Now, I have Internet, MobiPocket E-mail and all my programs on my 42" television.
Very simple, the computer is totally cold and silent.

That's a nice little HTPC you've put together.
Out of curiosity is that cpu enough to play 1920x1080 videos smoothly?

I can run very smooth 1920x1080p 30 fps files.
I'm using Widows Media Player Clasic Home Cinema.
