One very convenient utility that you'll never find anyone complaining about are fan controllers. They generally have a fairly compact design and fit just about anywhere. This is why today I'm happy to bring you the Fan Controller by Lamptron.
Now before I get into the first hand experience I just want to have a quick side note about fan controllers in general. The extremely convenient thing about these devices is the fact that it allows you to control your fan when normally you can't. If you're anything like me, you probably have a computer in your room and you probably almost never turn it off. This is the best time to have the controllers, to turn down the power when you're going to bed.
Fan controllers come in all kinds of designs. Commonly you'll see them mounted in drive bays, on the back of card slots, or even connected internally to the individual fans. The Fan Controller by Lamptron is a device that will fit into your hand with a nice illuminated dial.
Installation is very easy. The Controller has small set of cables that plug into the controller. On the other end, there are two 3 pin connectors to connect fans, and a third female 3 pin connector to connect to the power. Once connected, the controller at full gives pull power, and when at it's lowest setting gives 5v of power, which is the minimum most fans recommend to run on.
This controller looks good enough to be mounted inside the case or outside. It also comes with a small clip to mount the controller while it's not being used. If you choose to mount it inside the case you won't have to worry about heat since after leaving it on at both high and low power, I wasn't able to feel any heat coming off it.

Finally, no matter where you mount it, as you can see above, it'll look great. The dial has a nice blue glow around the ring as well a LED light marker to indicate high vs low power.
I'd like to thank Lamptron for giving me the opportunity to review their Fan Controller. Hooking it up has been very easy to do and I haven't been able to find any problems in its design. If anyone is looking for a controller to control one of two fans simultaneously, this might be the perfect controller to check out.
