SteelPad Qck Heavy - Gaming Pad
Author: faceless105 -- Posted: 2007-03-05
We all know that gaming is by far the most hardware intensive role our computers could play. While the mouse pad is sadly overlooked most of the time, SteelSeries likes to really raise the bar with their products. The SteelPad Qck Heavy is one of those products that once you use it you won't ever want anything else.

The SteelPad Qck Heavy is what I like to think of as the Industrial version of the SteelPad Qck+. These are both high end gaming pads, but the Heavy model is three times as thick. This thing really feels like it would be able to take a lot of abuse before quitting on you. The dimensions are 17.7 wide inches by 15.7 high inches with just under a 1/4 inch thickness.

This mouse pad is designed to give you the best gaming experience it can. The extra thickness will help give you an incredibly level playing surface even when the pad itself isn't on one. Another thing that is usually taken for granted is the non-slip bottom. If your mouse pads moving then why bother use it right? Well that is one thing that you will never have to worry about with this mouse pad.

Another feature that I think really stands out and you won't be able to find in many other companies is the degree of work put into this hardware along side professional gamers. I mean, any mouse pad will work when you want to click around in Excel or Word, but you want to show off something with a little more to offer when you're at a LAN. So why not take a proven product with you? The SteelPad Qck Heavy was developed in cooperation with leading gamers from two very different First Person Shooters: Counter-Strike and Quake IV. If these leading teams aren't enough to convince you then I really don't think you've been paying attention :)

Now it's time for the first hand experience, and I just want to start by pointing out that this thing really it tough. The foam body makes it really flexible and the cloth top can take some abuse with its almost elastic structure. There are also no complaints from me while playing some F.E.A.R. with it. I love the space it covers and with that smooth cloth top, my mouse really does glide without any noticeable resistance.

Now I'd like to take this opportunity to thank the guys over at SteelSeries one more time for giving me the chance to review their high end gaming equipment. And all of you should check out the SteelPad Qck Heavy. Remember, this is the stuff the professionals use.

Also if anyone has any questions, comments, or thoughts, I'd love to hear them :)
